Admissions Overview

The Admissions Office of American Heritage Academy seeks to enroll well-rounded, motivated students with average to well above-average ability (gifted) seeking an enriched education necessary for college. We welcome students representing all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

Applications to attend American Heritage Academy are available for Prekindergarten (for 3 and 4 year olds) through grade 12. Applications may be submitted at any time. Enrollment testing is scheduled and applicants must attend one of the testing sessions. Enrollment will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants. Admission to American Heritage Academy is based on the following factors:
  1. Aptitude for learning as assessed by American Heritage Academy staff
  2. Previous academic performance and behavior as documented in school records
  3. Recommendations from previous instructional personnel
  4. Child and/or parent interview
  5. Adherence to Conditions and Terms of Admission as stated in the Application for Admission package.
Children applying for enrollment in grades K-12 will be tested before being considered for admission to the school. It is the policy of the school to accept three and four-year-old children into the Preschool program based on age, after an interview with the parent(s) of the prospective student, and a group observation of potential Prekindergarten students. The founders of American Heritage Academy recognize and agree with the educational and child development research, which indicates that the testing of very young children is often unreliable and invalid in terms of judging potential academic success. Therefore, students in the Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 classes are conditionally admitted to the American Heritage Academy Preschool Program.

If a child is successful in the PreK-3 and PreK-4 programs, the child becomes eligible for continued school services at American Heritage Academy. Observations are conducted throughout the year to determine a child's ability to function successfully in the American Heritage Preschool Program. Parents are notified immediately when it is deemed that American Heritage Academy is an inappropriate academic setting for the child. The application, a non-refundable $75 application fee, and a tuition deposit of $250 must be received prior to testing. All information from your child's current school should be received with the application, but must be received and reviewed before acceptance. These items include report cards, test results, and teacher recommendations as delineated in the general application instructions.
