Chess is an opportunity to learn how to think and reason. Chess can improve memory, logic, observation and analysis, and operant conditioning in the formative mind. The American Heritage Academy Chess Club will research the benefits of chess, teach the art and science of chess to its students by providing them with instruction, and organize opportunities to hone their skills. These opportunities include, but are not limited to, participation in tournaments and matches, and access to newsletters, magazines, and books. The AHA Chess Club will strive to provide an opportunity to participate in a local and/or national competition.
