American Heritage Academy, which opened in the fall of 1999, provides an exciting private educational opportunity for elementary, middle, and high school students in the north metro area. With the goal of being a leader in education achievement, American Heritage Academy is a progressive school dedicated to challenging and encouraging children and adolescents to participate in all aspects of academic, community, and athletic life. The campus provides services for children in Prekindergarten (ages 3 and 4) through grade twelve. Class sizes are very low, and all classrooms are larger and better equipped than most school classrooms. Our goal is to provide the resources that encourage the success of each student and an environment that fosters respect for self and others. Through an exciting, active, innovative curriculum, we have created an environment that inspires the scholar, artist, athlete, and humanitarian that is within each of our students. The founders of American Heritage Academy believe that all students can and will learn in a caring, supportive environment that provides a balanced, challenging curriculum.

On this website, we describe the enriched educational program available to students at American Heritage Academy. We pride ourselves in creating an atmosphere of academic excellence coupled with encouragement, caring, and guidance. We invite you to visit us, ask questions, and find out more about this exciting, rewarding educational opportunity.

Our Mission

Our mission is to develop mature, independent, and confident students who achieve at their optimal level and become successful, contributing members of society. Through intellectual, athletic, and creative pursuits, our students gain maturity while developing respect for themselves and others. We challenge them to become resourceful, informed, responsible, and ethical citizens in the school environment, at home, and in the community. We are enriched by the cultural differences of our students and faculty. The Academy offers the curriculum in a collaborative, caring environment and supportive community that distinguish our school from other institutions and help to ensure the success of our students when they move to future phases of their education.

The Campus

In the north metro area, the Academy is nestled in a nature lover’s setting on thirteen acres bordered by a spring-fed creek and a large man-made lake. American Heritage Academy is located at 2126 Sixes Road, Canton, Georgia, in Cherokee County, and is easily accessible from I-575, exit 11.

The school is being built in several phases with the initial three phases consisting of administrative offices, cafeteria, catering kitchen, and spacious classrooms. The prekindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools include a state-of-the-art interactive learning environment with advanced technology in a student-friendly school setting. An outside garden area, a ball field, cross-country track, media center, computer lab, science lab, black box studio, music rooms, art rooms, counselor’s room, school store, and nurse’s station are also included. A gymnasium allows for a variety of physical education and sports activities as well as provides a multipurpose space for assemblies, drama, and music programs. Areas to showcase children’s work are found throughout the school. Large playground spaces are included and offer children plenty of outdoor activities. American Heritage Academy hosts our own secure web page on the Internet. All classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and courtyards are under continuous video surveillance providing an extra measure of internal and external security for the school. The combination of our video surveillance technology coupled with our internal computer network capabilities affords parents the opportunity to view their child’s classroom over the Internet while at home or work.

Subsequent phases will include more classrooms to accommodate additional students in preschool through high school, with enhancements to the cafeteria and playgrounds. Additional ball fields, courtyards, playground areas, nature trails, and a practice gym are planned for development during the final phases. Once all building phases are complete, a child will be able to enter American Heritage Academy at three years of age and continue through high school graduation. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and Commission On International And Trans-Regional Accreditation Standards (CITA).SACS Logo
